Burn Ban Effective Now!

Writer: AVFDAVFD

The Walton County Board of County Commissioners has issued a burn ban for ALL of Walton County effective Wednesday, November 1.

We have had a very limited amount of precipitation and the Kendal Brooks Index has Walton County with a low moisture rating. Until we get a significant amount of rainfall we will remain with a burn ban.

The Florida Forestry Service is not issuing burn permits in Walton County. Under the burn ban, outdoor burning is illegal and anyone in violation of the ban could face criminal charges and fines.

We will be here if you need us but please do not burn outdoors. No bonfires or yard debris is to be burned during this time. With the wind and dry conditions we have now could turn out bad if something gets out of control.
