With temperatures rising across our area, it's important to know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Recognizing the warning signs early can save a life.
💧 Stay hydrated—even if you don't feel thirsty.🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.⏰ Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (10 AM–4 PM).👨👩👧 Check on children, older adults, outdoor workers, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
🚨 Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone has a high body temperature, becomes confused, loses consciousness, or has hot, dry skin, call 911 immediately and begin cooling them while help is on the way.
Take a moment to review the flyer below and share it with your family and friends. A few minutes of preparation can make all the difference during extreme heat.
Stay safe and stay cool!
